Choosing an email service to use is one of the most important decisions you will make as a new online business owner, at least in the short term.
As someone now doing business online, you cannot use your personal email service to email your clients and customers. That means no gmail, yahoo or hotmail accounts.
These services not only allow you to customize and send emails in a way your personal gmail account can’t, they also ensure you comply with American CAN-SPAM laws by making it easy for your subscribers to unsubscribe (it’s the law) and provide a whole lot of other services you may not even realize you need yet.
Choosing the Right Email Service for YOU
Don’t get stuck choosing an email service! There are many choices to make as an online business. And, you’ll wind up changing a lot of them as you grow. Choose the email service that works for you and provides the options you’ll need in the future. If you don’t know how to use them now, that’s okay, by the time you need them, you will. Make your choice and then move on.
Of the list of email services I mentioned above, the ones that will serve you well are Active Campaign, Aweber, and Mailerlite. MailChimp and ConstantContact, for a variety of reasons, won’t serve you well as your business grows. As long as you stick with one of the three I’ve mentioned, you shouldn’t need to worry about deliverability, open rates, etc. All major services are all comparable, and deliverability issues are most likely to reside with your content and your clients, at least at the beginning of your business.
Most important is to look “inside” a few services before you make your choice to decide which one speaks to you. They are all slightly different and each have people who love them and those that hate them. It’s because we all think and operate differently and the services are set up to reflect that.
Email Services: Insider’s Peek
To make looking inside a bit easier, I’ve recorded a series of videos showing you inside the three most popular services for new online businesses. This week I’m taking a look inside Mailerlite. Last week I peeked inside ActiveCampaign and next week we’ll wrap up with Aweber.
